A BMU is a crane type access equipment, usually suspended from the roof, which moves systematically over some surface of a structure while positioning the cradle in front of the façade to maintain or clean the covered surfaces.

Building Maintenance Units are used in more complicated building designs, and provide a sophisticated façade access solution.
